The brand has been incubated within The Cernis Collective, and is now on ‘test’ to establish an appetite for the brand, explore price points, product range appeal & performance and develop retail partnerships, to help build a longer term strategic direction.
Functional and technical fabrics, quality design styling and detailing, with a broad competitive set across sports, leisure and athleisure.
.001 / Point Zero Zero One relates to the thousandth of a second timing used in many motorsports (F1, MotoGP, WEC, Indy, FormulaE, GT), and across performance sports too (Winter, Swimming, Cycling).
It’s a truth, .001 is the ultimate point of difference. The margin of success, and often determines a place on the starting grid or even Championship points. In Formula One history 85 races have been won by a gap of under a second.
It’s the performance goal every team, driver, rider strives for. To win!
The brand palette is purposely monochrome, for the sole purpose it is a non tribal brand for followers of motorsport. From the most recent GPDA survey across 203 countries - 80% of fans don’t follow a particular driver and 30% support more than one team. In that sense if you are one of the 20% you can wear your bright yellow Valentino Rossi tee shirt under a .001 hoodie. It won’t clash. Or a glorious red Ferrari jacket over one of the brands’ mid layers.
We wanted to avoid colour clashes but also give the largest group of motorsport followers (from armchair to fanatics) a brand that had the essence of their sport (Speed) at its heart, without signalling a particular colour.
But if you don’t follow motorsport at all, then we know there’s room (and desire) in the wardrobe and kit bag repertoire for a beautifully designed, well made solid colour piece or two.
Range design and development has been in collaboration with Paul Taylor and his product design agency IIID.
The brand look and feel has been created with our long term design and image creation partners Why Not Associates and in particular Clayton Welham who acts as brand creative director.
The original brand logo was created in a collaboration between ourselves, Robin Powell and Mammal Design.
Having helped so many brands over the years to gestate, develop, launch and grow it only seemed natural we should create a strategic brand asset of our own - and apply all our knowledge and craft skill to hopefully creating a powerful and sustainable enterprise.
